Hello! Last week, we visited a retailer and looked at the Parador Modular One flooring. It sounds interesting: plasticizer-free; lifetime warranty; integrated cork underlay for sound insulation.

Who has experience with it? During installation? In daily use; cleaning; maintenance; durability?

Why wouldn’t it? Yes, maybe your heating system runs a little less efficiently and only delivers 99.9%, but in my opinion, that’s negligible... We actually have a different issue with the floor in white: when light and shadow fall on it, the shadowed areas have a brownish tint, making it look like there is a large brown stain there... but it’s just the shadow... I don’t find that very attractive...

How does it work with dogs or cats? Is the floor prone to scratching?

Really beautiful flooring, and we are considering installing it over 120 sqm (1,292 sq ft). However, we were told at OBI that we are not allowed to place the kitchen directly on it and need to install the flooring around it. The same applies to a large sliding door wardrobe, 4 m (13 ft) long. Is that correct? Is the sales advisor right?

From my experience, similar issues generally apply to vinyl flooring. Five years ago, we installed vinyl flooring (Gerflor rigid vinyl) in our apartment. Wherever there are point loads (for example, a large wardrobe with small feet), we have since noticed indentations in the floor. So, it is definitely worth considering large-area protective underlays. For example, we placed plexiglass discs under the sofa legs, and that works very well.

What price per square meter have you actually paid? We are going to choose the natural Oak Spirit country-style plank, but we’re not yet sure where we will source the product from.

I have now received an offer for just under 55 sqm (590 sq ft) at a price of €24.99 per sqm (about $26.50 per sq yd) from an online retailer. I find that quite cheap compared to local stores, which charge between €30 and €36 per sqm ($32 to $38 per sq yd) for the same product. What’s the catch?

So far, my local suppliers have always been cheaper with custom quotes than online options … with sums this large, I’m usually very reluctant to order online, as I have certain reservations.
