ᐅ White "crystal spots" on brickwork? Is that normal?

Hello everyone,

I have attached a few pictures of my face brick. It is a coal-fired brick.

I have seen this brick on several houses and liked it. Despite the relatively high price, we decided to go with it.

The white "salt crystals" (as I call them) did not catch my attention on the other houses. That would have been a reason to decide against it. Some spots can be removed with some effort by scraping.

But is this normal? Should we have been informed about this? Is this considered a defect? Can we claim compensation or something similar?

Thank you for a brief response!

Can no one really explain this?

Unfortunately, I cannot see any white crystal spots in the pictures.

To me, all the stones look dirty, many with these streaks as if other stones have left marks, and in many places some kind of white residue.

Maybe you could take a close-up photo of what you mean.

There are these efflorescence stains on the brick facade, is that what you mean?

However, I can only mention the keyword here, as we live in an area with plaster/cladding 😉
