Hello,
we want to buy a small hot tub for the garden. Not from China or overseas, we have chosen Wellis, which manufactures in Hungary. The size will be 2 by 2 meters (6.5 by 6.5 feet), or possibly a model a few centimeters (inches) larger.
Now we are wondering if an integrated Bluetooth sound system is really necessary. It costs about 950 € extra. During the very good consultation, we forgot to ask about it, but it was added as an extra cost in the offer.
Who owns a smaller hot tub with a sound system and actually uses it? Or is it a "nice to have" feature that just ends up unused?

What kind of maintenance costs should you plan for with a hot tub? Assuming it’s not the cheapest unit from a hardware store. We have space for it on the roof terrace, including the necessary connections, and are considering buying one when the neighbor is building next year and has a crane available.

We’ve planned space for one on the rooftop terrace, including connections, and are thinking about buying one next year when the neighbor is building and has a crane. Be careful with a rooftop terrace because of the load-bearing capacity... the pool plus water already weighs quite a lot...
We have ours in the garden.
Maintenance mainly involves chlorine, cleaning, changing the water every 2–3 months, plus electricity for heating because the tub is reheated whenever the temperature is raised.
Electricity is the biggest expense. You can expect around €350–500 (about $380–550) per year. Changing the water costs about €30 (around $33), plus chemicals.
That’s about it.
A quick question: can I drain normal water with a bit of chlorine into the garden?

fach1werk29 Apr 2020 15:20We always kept a round pool running continuously since it needs to circulate water anyway, and that way you can just jump in spontaneously when it’s always at operating temperature. It uses about $60 per month (USD), but we only operated it during winter and it was outdoors.
We eventually gave it away because I found water maintenance too troublesome. I would have liked to have an automatic dosing system. If it’s a good one, it costs as much as the pool itself. It only saves work if it also measures automatically, not just doses chemicals.
Still, it was simply great. You will definitely have a lot of fun!
Best regards
Gabriele
P.S. When the chlorine is used up, it won’t corrode anything anymore, so it probably won’t cause much damage in the garden. But doesn’t it still contain a lot of other substances? Replacing unstable acid with stable acid, adjusting lime levels... removing them... algaecides... When changing water, cleaning all pipes with active oxygen to remove buildup, etc.? Ours ran at 38°C (100°F) — otherwise things tend to thrive in the water.

It is important to distinguish whether cartridge filters, sand filters, tablets, or dosing systems are used.
Jacuzzis are usually operated with sand filters and dosing systems. More affordable hot tubs typically use cartridge filters and chlorine tablets.
Apart from chlorine and pH decreaser, no other chemicals are needed.
Circulation requires less energy than in a swimming pool. Heating is more demanding. In general, hot tubs contain less water.
If the heating is used efficiently, maintenance costs are manageable.
Bubbling and massage jets, as well as their pumps, consume a lot of power.
Therefore, it depends on the hot tub, the equipment (expensive pumps are often more efficient), and usage habits.
Water loss is low if the hot tub is covered when not in use.
If it is operated with the proper filter, no water changes are necessary.
