I would like to have a whirlpool bathtub in our bathroom with a capacity of about 200 liters (53 gallons).
My husband thinks that over the years a leak is more likely than with conventional bathtubs: the sealing around the jets might become brittle without being noticed, or the jets could become loose, etc.
In short, he said, "If you really want one, you could just use a bubble mat." Well, that doesn’t sound very appealing to me (uneven surface… having to take out and dry the mat every time).
What do you think?
Also, is it possible to prevent such leaks?
I’m looking forward to your thoughts and experiences!

Freestanding bathtubs are in vogue – however, I haven’t checked yet whether whirlpools come in the same style. In any case, I would place this product in the premium segment. You probably wouldn’t choose a private label product from a discount hardware store, and when paying a significant amount, you can expect decent quality.

Well, there are cheap ones around 2000€ (about 2200 USD). I don’t want to know how loud they are...
The whirlpool tubs from well-known manufacturers start at 6000€ (about 6600 USD) and still only have tiny jets. That’s more of a bubble bath than a massage. Better to round up to 10,000€ (about 11,000 USD) and get a proper one (outdoor) instead.

Then better to round up to 10,000€ and put in a proper one (outside). Or indoors, but not in your own home. Nowadays, even in places like Bielefeld, Auingen, or Ganting, there are wellness centers with a ladies’ day once a week, where the OP can have Prosecco and tapas brought to the pool by attractive waiters. Because: the turbo doesn’t like short trips much, and since most people usually only shower daily, the hot tub technology tends to suffer from infrequent use. The price of a premium plunge pool is enough to cover a many years’ membership.

Hmm.. freestanding bathtubs are not really my thing (just like most trendy stuff ), I’m more thinking of a traditional corner bathtub where two people can comfortably bathe without wasting too much water.
@11ant we also use the whirlpools in the nearby spas, but without the pretty waiters pouring champagne
