We are currently gathering quotes from window manufacturers. Since I keep reading about break-ins in homes and I often work late shifts while my wife is home alone, we want secure windows that are difficult to pry open. Can anyone recommend which windows are burglary-resistant?

RC 2 - Secure Living - Burglary Protection
A break-in at home is a major shock for many people, regardless of age. Often, the violation of privacy, the lost sense of security, or serious psychological effects following a break-in weigh more heavily on the victims than the purely material damage.
Experience from the police shows that protection is possible. Over one third of break-in attempts fail, not least due to security devices.
Windows
Tested burglar-resistant windows and patio/balcony doors according to DIN V 1627 (formerly DIN V 18054). Windows and patio/balcony doors that can be reached from the outside without special tools represent, along with entrance doors, the most common points of attack for burglars. In new builds and renovations, installing tested burglar-resistant windows and doors with resistance class (RC) 2 provides good protection against break-ins. These components are subjected to practical burglary resistance testing. This ensures that there are no weak points in the overall construction (wall connection, frame, fittings, lockable window handle, glazing, and professional installation).
Costs: depending on the window proportion/house, starting from approximately 3,500 EUR (around 3,500 USD) with certification
RC 2 – a “similar” security measure
Example: Every window sash and front door in the entire building is fitted with hardware featuring at least 7 security locking points (mushroom cams) including drill protection and a lockable handle.
Window profile manufacturer: Veka®, Kömmerling® or equivalent; hardware by Winkhaus®, Sigenia® or equivalent; installation according to RC 2 requirements
Costs: approx. 125 EUR (about 125 USD) per window sash, depending on size and manufacturer choice; without certification
