Minzerich6 May 2015 18:46Hello everyone!
Maybe someone can give me a tip: I bought the wallpaper shown in the attachment because I really like it. (If anyone can’t see the attachment: it is wallpaper no. 6725-08 from erismann, petrol blue with a brown pattern). Now I have the problem that I can’t find a visually “calmer” wallpaper to match it, since covering an entire room with it is definitely too much. Does anyone have an idea of what would look good with it? I’m also considering how best to design the walls. Should I cover one entire wall with it and keep the rest different (solid color??), or maybe use it halfway up and treat the lower/upper part differently? The room isn’t very large; it will be a kind of hobby/utility room, but it shouldn’t have the feel of a storage room... Additionally, we’re thinking about using it on one wall in a bright, open hallway, and again the question is: what to combine it with? Looking forward to your tips. Thanks!!
Best regards

There is often a matching plain wallpaper from the same collection offered by a manufacturer. This ensures the colors definitely match, allowing you to combine the surfaces easily.

Minzerich6 May 2015 19:09Thanks, I have already thought of that and researched, but didn’t find anything. Only lighter/different colors, but with the same "jungle" pattern, which I find too busy. I’m also not sure if it’s from the current collection or an older one. That’s why I’m asking the (hobby) interior designers here who have an eye for things like this 😉
I think the wallpaper is very nice and I would choose a cream tone to go with it. However, I would prefer something simple without much texture.
How large is the room? Where are the windows and the door located?
I can also easily imagine it in a bright hallway. Depending on the furniture, I might wallpaper only one corner with it as a highlight. Alongside that, a plain turquoise wallpaper (but only a smaller strip) would work well, with the rest covered in plain cream wallpaper. 😉

Yes, I definitely want to combine it with a plain, solid-color wallpaper without texture, so it doesn’t become too busy or cluttered.
The room isn’t very large, and it includes a door to an adjacent room, a patio door, and a window. There is also a recessed area, but a tall cabinet plus base and wall cabinets will be placed there, so not much of that wall will be visible.
At first, I thought about applying the patterned wallpaper from the floor up to about window sill height or slightly higher, and then using a solid color above that to avoid overwhelming the space. However, I’m now considering doing a full strip from floor to ceiling with the patterned wallpaper and leaving the sides plain. I really like the idea of having a solid turquoise right next to the patterned wallpaper, followed by a solid cream or something similar. My only concern is that I might not find colors that match perfectly, and if it’s not an exact match, it might just look like it was an attempt but didn’t quite work out. Is the only solution then to wallpaper the rest in plain white and paint over it afterward? 🙁
