Hello everyone,
We are looking for toilets for our bathroom and guest toilet. We have shortlisted three models with the following main criteria:

- Preferably with a soft-close toilet seat included
- Maximum budget of 500-600 euros per toilet
- Wall-mounted
- Brand quality
- Open or rimless flush design
- Optional: refill basket for toilet fresheners or gel (not mandatory)

The models are V&B Subway, Geberit Icon, and Duravit Happy:

- Villeroy & Boch Subway 2.0 ViFresh wall-hung rim flush toilet, open rim, DirectFlush in white, with CeramicPlus and AntiBac // Item no.: 5614A1T2
- Matching seat: Villeroy & Boch Subway 2.0 removable toilet seat in white // Item no.: 9M68Q101

- Geberit Icon & Tellkamp Premium 1000 wall-hung toilet set: rimless toilet with KeraTect, toilet seat with soft-close // Item no.: 204060600+TK1000

- Duravit Happy D.2 wall-hung rim flush toilet with toilet seat, rimless, white, with HygieneGlaze // Item no.: 2222092000+0064590000

What are your opinions or experiences? What are the advantages or disadvantages of these models, or can you recommend something completely different?

Thanks in advance!

How should I imagine this:
Me: You really have a nice showroom here.
Salesperson: Thanks for the compliment, please feel free to have a seat.
Me: Do you also have a toilet brush?

I can only advise against soft-close. We have already had to repair two toilets because of it. In the guest bathroom, it broke twice. People end up pushing the lid down firmly anyway. After a few times, the mechanism fails. A new lid costs almost as much as the whole toilet. By now, we have just left them as is or once replaced the lid without soft-close.
It’s starting to happen at my in-laws’ place as well.
This has led to our ICons in the new house not having soft-close.

I can confirm that.

Well, maybe test it with friends first and, if you like it, buy the same one.

Hello,
we are facing the same question. Currently, we like the Newflush models from Catalano. In our opinion, these have the fewest and smallest edges where dirt can accumulate. Additionally, the flush seems to work "like a tornado" and cleans thoroughly.

As a result, our ICons in the new house won’t have soft-close lids.

In our apartment, we replaced the original Vigour lid with a soft-close one, and it still works perfectly after many years! I’m usually the one who accidentally drops other people’s toilet lids because I’m used to just “tapping” it to close. Brand HARO, cost about 40€ (around $43) I think?

First of all, thank you for the many contributions, but immediately after that comes a sigh from me! I’m not really making any progress...

My logical side says V & B, because it looks good, offers a good compromise with the open rim, and as a bonus has an integrated fill basket.

My heart says Geberit Icon, which also looks very good visually and would perfectly match our cistern and flush plate (Geberit). Unfortunately, I’m hesitant about the completely rimless design, since you occasionally read that it’s not splash-free.

I don’t really have an opinion on Duravit, unfortunately.

It doesn’t help; we will still visit at least 1–2 more bathroom showrooms, hoping that the mentioned models will be on display so we can hopefully get a final impression and maybe also receive an expert opinion on site.

Regarding soft-close: we have been using it without any problems for years, so that’s basically a given.

Can we say, then, that overall we can more or less recommend all three?
