Hello,
Now that the question of wallpaper or not has been answered, I would like to ask about wall paint recommendations.
At the hardware store, there is a brand called Alpina; it’s called Renovierweiss and costs 25 euros for a 10l (2.6 gallons) bucket.
Is it suitable to buy this, or should something higher quality be used, such as Brillux, for the walls?
Regards, Markus

Since my brother is a master painter and helped me a lot with painting and filling, I naturally bought the paint through him. He works a lot with Sto products. We used Sto Basic in off-white and partly pure white, and for the kitchen and bathroom, the Sto latex paint. Sto Basic is actually a low-budget paint, typically chosen when the bid has to be very competitive. However, it still provides excellent coverage, and our result is very, very good. The latex paint is foolproof—if you can’t apply that properly, you simply can’t paint.

Strahleman20 Jun 2021 18:45We would like to use silicate paint for our house instead of dispersion paint, mainly due to the emissions. Our painter has now offered us Sto StoColor Sil In for €1.80 per square meter (about $1.95 per square meter). Since we have gypsum plaster, a bonding primer must be applied before painting.
But wouldn't the bonding primer also cause emissions in the end? Because if that’s the case, I might as well use dispersion paint directly on the walls and save the additional cost.

BBaumeister22 Jun 2021 14:16Use Keim Innostar. I applied it directly onto the plaster for the entire house (base coat diluted with 5% water, followed by an undiluted top coat). The paint is very easy to work with, provides good coverage, has a good spreading rate, and a nice color tone. However, it is not exactly cheap.
For comparison: right after I finished painting the house, I painted the old apartment with an inexpensive emulsion paint and noticed a significant difference in both application and coverage.

So, I have now finished the painting work.
We wallpapered the ceiling with smooth fleece wallpaper. The walls were painted, all with Alpina Off-White. The bathrooms were painted with Herbol latex paint in a matte off-white.
Off-white is just a shade creamier than bright white.
Someone here called it nicotine yellow, which is nonsense.
