Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to assemble an Ikea Metod kitchen and wanted to gather information in advance about which tools I should have ready. I am interested both in the basic set of hand tools that are really necessary and in any special tools that can make the assembly significantly easier or more precise. Additionally, it would be helpful to know if there are any particularities during the installation of the Metod components that require specific tools.
My main goal is to avoid unpleasant surprises during the work and to be able to work efficiently. Who has experience with this? Which tools have proven useful? I look forward to your tips and advice on how to best prepare for the assembly – and, of course, any mistakes to avoid.

I just wanted to say that I was also quite unsure at the beginning about what exactly was needed. Your detailed question is great because back then I only had a quick look, and then suddenly I was missing some tools, which delayed the assembly process.
If you want to avoid stress during construction, I also recommend taking short breaks in between to realign everything and not rush. It’s better to check more often, and then everything fits together more smoothly, even if you’re familiar with the tools.

I would add that especially when installing the upper cabinets, having a third hand or at least a support device can be very helpful to securely attach the furniture to the wall. You didn’t mention this, but it’s an important point regarding tools and aids.

A quick follow-up question: Does anyone have experience using a drill stand or handheld drill specifically for adjustments on the Metod elements?
I imagine that especially for wall fixings or when more precise guidance is needed, such a tool could help make the drill holes more accurate than by hand. Or is it generally unnecessary and a cordless drill is completely sufficient? Are there any risks when using machines more that are not precisely guided?

Does anyone have experience using a drill stand or handheld drill specifically for adjustments on Metod components?A drill stand is not strictly necessary for Ikea Metod, since most holes come pre-drilled and the assembly is standardized. However, it can be helpful for wall adjustments or very precise drilling, especially when it comes to small wall fixings. It is important to keep the drill steady and straight to prevent crooked holes and avoid damaging the fasteners.
For regular assembly, a cordless screwdriver with the appropriate bits is usually sufficient. For occasional cutting or adjustments on individual panels, a handheld drill with drill guides can be useful, but this is not a standard requirement.
