Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of my new Ikea Platsa modular system and want to make sure I have all the necessary tools ready to make the process as smooth as possible. My specific question is: Which tools should you absolutely not forget when assembling Ikea Platsa? I understand that the frame is assembled with screws and wall plugs, but does anyone have experience with tools that are often overlooked yet very helpful? Tips on different screw types, drilling, adjustments, or assembly steps are also welcome so I can be optimally prepared.

In addition to what has already been mentioned: a small screwdriver for fine adjustments is helpful. The supplied tools are usually basic equipment only. It is better to use your own tools if possible.

Hey, I think it’s great that you’re putting so much thought into this! When assembling Platsa, I once forgot to charge the cordless drill and had to do it all by hand – super exhausting! So definitely make sure your battery is fully charged and have small helpers like a block of wood to create a slight leverage when putting it together. Good luck, you can do this!!

For better planning: Assembling Ikea PLATSA requires some precision, especially due to the modular connectors and the relatively large dimensions of some modules. It is advisable to sort all screws, dowels, and fasteners beforehand and keep them within reach in a small container. For screwing tasks, my tip is to select the proper torque setting on the cordless drill to avoid damaging the threads of the partial screws. Using assembly aids such as straps or clamps can also be helpful for large carcasses to prevent parts from slipping. Have you already checked whether your wall fixings require special screws or dowels?

Good question, I haven’t fully checked that yet, but I will inspect the wall over the weekend and choose the necessary fasteners depending on the material (drywall, concrete, etc.). Thanks also for the tip about the torque setting on the cordless drill and sorting the parts—that makes sense. If anyone has general advice on screw length or types of anchors for PLATSA, please share!
