Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of my new Ikea Platsa modular system and want to make sure I have all the necessary tools ready to make the process as smooth as possible. My specific question is: Which tools should you absolutely not forget when assembling Ikea Platsa? I understand that the frame is assembled with screws and wall plugs, but does anyone have experience with tools that are often overlooked yet very helpful? Tips on different screw types, drilling, adjustments, or assembly steps are also welcome so I can be optimally prepared.
Hello TANER66, I think your question is very well put, as it helps avoid constantly searching for tools during the build. Besides a Phillips screwdriver and a cordless drill, I also recommend a spirit level to make sure everything is hung straight. A measuring tape or ruler is also useful to check distances. If you need to drill into walls, you should have a suitable drill bit – usually 6 to 8 mm (0.24 to 0.31 inches), depending on the type of anchors used. A small set of Allen keys is usually included with PLATSA, but it’s good to have your own set on hand in case something gets lost.

I would recommend going through everything in advance and also having a small screwdriver set ready, in case there are special screws or unusual fasteners. And be patient – the system is smart, but it takes time 🙂
As an addition: A common issue with the PLATSA system is the correct alignment and precise insertion of the wooden dowels. Therefore, I recommend using, alongside standard tools, a protractor or a small stop block. This improves the fit accuracy and increases the furniture’s load-bearing capacity. It is also advisable to use screwdrivers or bits with a magnetic tip so that the screws do not fall off the tool during insertion.
