Hello everyone,

I recently purchased several pieces of furniture from the Ikea Hemnes series and want to be well prepared for assembly. I’m interested in which tools you always have on hand based on your experience when putting together Hemnes furniture.

Specifically, I’d like to know which tools have proven to be necessary or at least very helpful to make the assembly process smooth, efficient, and without unnecessary interruptions. Are there specific types or sizes of screwdrivers or other hand tools that should definitely be ready?

I would appreciate it if you could share your recommendations and maybe some personal tips regarding the tool set for assembling Hemnes furniture. Thank you in advance!

For Hemnes, you usually need a Phillips screwdriver size PH2. An Allen key is often included, but it’s better to bring your own.

Additionally, a rubber mallet can be useful for assembling parts without causing damage.

Great question, Sarsan! 😃 When assembling Hemnes furniture, I always keep a tape measure, a cordless drill with the right bits (especially Phillips PH2), and a soft mallet handy. It really makes everything much easier!

A cordless drill, in particular, saves a lot of time and effort – but be careful not to use too much torque to avoid damaging the wood! Always start gently and then adjust as needed. You can do it, good luck with the assembly! 👍

Additionally, I recommend having a small measuring tape or folding ruler available for precise alignment and checking distances.

Furthermore, an Allen key set with various sizes can be useful, even though Ikea usually provides everything – personal tools are often more durable and easier to handle.

A screwdriver with an ergonomic handle also makes manual assembly easier.

This selection of tools reliably and systematically covers the requirements of the Hemnes series.

I completely agree! The rubber mallet has always been a lifesaver for me, especially when fitting the drawer slides on the Hemnes.

Another thing I find important: some connectors can be a bit tricky to handle, so patience and sometimes an extra pair of hands really help.

When you’re stressed or tired, mistakes tend to happen even if the tools are right. So, besides having the proper tools, always plan enough time – it makes a big difference.
