Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion on the topic "Which tools make cleaning Ikea Metod glass fronts easier?" I have a kitchen with glass fronts from the Metod series and have noticed that cleaning is not always straightforward—especially when dealing with fingerprints, dust, and stubborn stains. I am interested in which cleaning tools or aids are particularly recommended for both time-saving and gentle cleaning. Are there specific microfiber cloths, sprays, sponges, or perhaps practical gadgets that you use? It is important to me that the glass fronts are not damaged and that the cleaning process is as efficient as possible. What experiences have you had, and which tools can you recommend from your own practice?

You can hardly see those small fingerprints anymore.

That sounds promising, but is there any concrete evidence or practical experience showing that squeegees actually improve the cleaning results for such glass façades in an objective way? These kinds of gadgets are often promoted, but the effect is not always measurable.

Additionally, I wonder how the surface properties of the glass façades were tested with different cleaning tools. What if using certain materials, like silicone sponges, causes damage to a microscopic protective layer over time? I find that such considerations are often missing from the usual advice.

Sure, I understand your skepticism. From my own experience and that of friends, using a squeegee not only saves time but also noticeably reduces streaks—especially on flat glass surfaces. It’s not a miracle tool, of course, but the difference is clear. I use it right after applying the spray and wipe off the water, which keeps the surface nice and clear.

Regarding surface wear, I only use soft rubber or silicone squeegees. Hard plastic or metal is definitely off-limits. This way, there should be no long-term damage. Ultimately, gentle care is key here as well.

I use an electric steam cleaner with a fine nozzle that cleans the glass surfaces without any chemicals. Afterwards, I wipe them again with a microfiber cloth – no streaks, no scratches.
