Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble an Ikea Platsa wardrobe but am unsure which tools are truly recommended to ensure a safe and efficient build. Ikea, of course, provides an Allen key, but is that really enough, or is it worth having additional tools on hand? I am especially interested in whether a cordless drill/driver is useful, what accessories are needed for installing the back panels and doors, and if any special tools are recommended for fitting it into a wall niche. It would also be helpful to know if certain tools can help prevent damage to the components or make the assembly significantly easier. I look forward to your experiences and tips!

Installing the door is often the trickiest part. The key is: don’t force anything, first screw all screws in loosely, align everything, then tighten.Exactly, this approach sounds reasonable to me! Thank you very much for the precise tips. One more question: Does anyone have experience using special installation aids like blocks or clamps when assembling the cabinet, for example, to allow better adjustment when screwing together the carcass parts? Sometimes only two hands are available, so such a tool would be useful, right?
Great topic! I can confirm: using a cordless drill is a lot of fun during assembly because everything goes much faster! Also, a rubber mallet helps prevent scratches or dents – which saves a lot of frustration!
Regarding the trick with small blocks as assembly aids: yes, that’s brilliant! They allow you to secure everything quickly when working alone. Small clamps are also very helpful for alignment.
And very important: be patient when adjusting the doors! I was in a hurry once and had to spend much more time on the second attempt – but it was worth it! Good luck with the assembly, it will turn out great!

I would definitely recommend the following tools:
- Cordless drill driver with hex (Allen) bits
- Hammer (preferably rubber mallet)
- Spirit level for alignment
- Small screwdrivers for adjusting the hinges
Everything else, like clamps or special tools, can be helpful but is not absolutely necessary. I can confirm that using small blocks to secure parts is very useful, especially when working alone, as it makes assembly much easier.
