BenpinHello everyone, I recently bought a Billy bookshelf and want to assemble it myself. Since I want to approach the project as efficiently and carefully as possible, I’m wondering: Which tools are especially recommended for assembling Billy bookshelves and why? Are there any specific tools that make the assembly significantly easier or faster? I’m looking forward to your tips and experiences, especially regarding the tools you actually used and found particularly helpful.
The assembly of Billy is generally quite straightforward, but a few tools can make the process easier. First, I recommend a good cordless drill with a Phillips bit, as this allows you to fasten the screws much more quickly and ensures a more stable assembly. Additionally, a rubber mallet is useful for fitting the shelves and back panels without causing damage. A small spirit level is helpful at the end to check the alignment and ensure the shelves are straight. Tip: Avoid applying too much force when screwing in to prevent the wood from splintering.

I’m wondering if the cordless drill should ideally have a torque setting to avoid driving the screws too deep. Do you have any other advice on how to prevent damage to the shelf wood? For example, do you use protective pads or something similar when working?
