Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to assemble an IKEA Metod kitchen myself and want to prepare well by clearly determining in advance which tools I actually need. IKEA usually supplies all screws and fittings, but I am specifically interested in the tools that make the assembly efficient and without unnecessary extra effort.
So, which hand tools are essential for the perfect assembly of an IKEA Metod kitchen? I would appreciate a detailed list, including recommendations on when to use, for example, a cordless drill instead of a manual screwdriver, or if special tools like a corner clamp are really necessary.
Thanks in advance for your experiences and tips!

As an addition: IKEA Metod kitchens are often delivered in multiple modules, which means that proper preparation is especially important for assembly.
My recommendation for tools:
- First, make sure the cordless drill is fully charged.
- Always use the correct bits that match the screws – many IKEA screws only fit PH2.
- When hanging the wall cabinets, ensure they are level using a spirit level – even a slight misalignment can cause problems later.
- When installing the hinges, use a screwdriver for fine adjustments.
A tip: Watch the IKEA assembly video beforehand, as it often shows which tools are useful. But basically, a cordless drill, spirit level, and hammer will cover most needs.

In addition to the tools already mentioned, I would like to highlight the topic of wall fastening:
When installing Metod wall cabinets, the stability largely depends on choosing the right anchors and screws. Depending on the wall material (concrete, drywall, brick), you need different types of anchors.
For concrete walls, I recommend heavy-duty anchors and a good hammer drill with a 6-8mm (1/4–5/16 inch) drill bit. For drywall, you must use special hollow wall anchors.
Also, make sure that the cordless drill does not apply too much torque when screwing in the wall fasteners, unless the fastener is appropriately robust. Otherwise, there is a risk that the anchors may pull out.

A tip upfront: IKEA components are usually precisely manufactured, but sometimes adjustments are necessary.Thank you for the detailed response! It’s precisely these adjustments that often make me uncertain.
Could someone perhaps explain more specifically how to best handle slight angle errors? Is it worth using a corner clamp for this, or are there better tricks involving screws or hinges?
I would appreciate it if someone with experience could share how to professionally correct such minor inaccuracies.
