Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of the Ikea Metod kitchen system and want to prepare as well as possible. I am especially interested in which tools you consider truly essential for assembling the Metod kitchen units. I am not only referring to the tools Ikea provides but also additional tools that can significantly simplify the assembly or improve the quality. Perhaps there are also specialty tools that most people do not usually have at home but that prove very useful. I look forward to your recommendations and practical insights, preferably with brief experiences related to each tool.

A cordless screwdriver with adjustable torque also prevents over-tightening of screws, which often happens with the delicate metal and wood connections of the modules. That really sounds like an important point, especially the adjustable torque feature. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for a cordless model that is ideally suited for this? I don’t want a professional construction-site tool, but also not something cheap where the torque can’t be set precisely enough.
I recommend a cordless drill/driver in the mid-price range with adjustable torque and two batteries. Models like Bosch Professional or Makita are well suited, as they allow precise torque adjustment in steps and provide sufficient power without being oversized. A fast charger is also important to keep the construction process moving quickly.

I would like to add that, besides the cordless drill, a sufficiently long spirit level or alignment tool is helpful.Thank you for the tip about the spirit level; it is often underestimated. Ideally, how long should the spirit level be? Is a small 60 cm (24 inches) one sufficient, or are 80-100 cm (31-39 inches) better when installing multiple cabinets side by side?

Using a 60 cm (24 inch) one becomes more challenging with multiple cabinets, as it’s harder to ensure all adjacent units are perfectly aligned. I had no issues with this when installing my Metod kitchen.
