What tips and tricks can you recommend to ensure the safe transport of Billy bookcases reliably? I am especially interested in handling both unassembled and partially assembled bookcases, proper packaging, securing them in the vehicle, as well as transport aids that can help reduce the effort. I would appreciate any advice I should consider!
That’s a great question because the BILLY shelves may seem simple, but they can be quite delicate during transport 😊!
What worked really well for me was wrapping all the parts in large garbage bags or stretch film to protect them from dirt and moisture. Always store the boards flat and use felt or foam padding between the individual pieces to prevent scratches. When loading, make sure nothing shifts—securing everything with ratchet straps or non-slip mats is best.
And of course, as I always say: stay calm, and everything will go smoothly. Good luck with the transport! 🙂

Absolutely important: Transport in separate parts! The individual shelf components are much easier to handle and keep the vehicle free for other items.
That’s exactly the secret tip! I once renovated my entire apartment with BILLY shelves, and this method protects against water, dirt, and annoying scratches. Oh, and always label the screw containers so you don’t have major trouble during assembly later! :-)

Additionally, I recommend not just stacking the shelves flat but placing padding between the layers to avoid pressure marks.
For assembled BILLY shelves: although they are sturdy, they must be secured against bending during transport – for example, with reinforcing wooden slats at the corners or soft padding along the edges.
