ᐅ Which type of storage tank is suitable for an air-to-water heat pump?

Hi,

how large should a domestic hot water tank be for an air-to-water heat pump? Is a separate buffer tank for the heating system necessary? I think I once read that ideally you should avoid using a tank at all, because only then does the air-to-water heat pump operate at maximum efficiency. Is that true or nonsense? What do you recommend? And does coupling it with a thermal storage tank connected to a wood stove make sense to support heating during winter?

Well... in the end, I am the customer, and they put their sticker on it and approved the whole thing.
Alright – I just hope that a warranty case never occurs.

Exactly, you are the customer – and therefore insignificant.

Ultimately, you could be criticized for the missing thermostats – or have you officially been exempted?

Good question... we had informed the designer – but I see what you mean. They are electrically pre-wired, after all.

It can’t be changed anymore anyway – neither for you nor for me.

Yesterday I turned on the hot water for the first time – what temperature do you set it at and with what hysteresis?

We set it to 45°C (113°F) with a 5° hysteresis... but we also reduced the heating to once daily using the timer programs. So far, it works well for us.
