Hello everyone,

I have a somewhat specific question: “Which replacement parts for IKEA Malm furniture are most commonly needed and frequently ordered or replaced?”

I’m particularly interested in common issues and wear parts that occur with Malm dressers or beds, preferably from those of you with experience in DIY repairs. Are there typical replacement parts that tend to fail repeatedly?

It would also be helpful if you could briefly describe whether the replacement is difficult or if there are parts that are hard to find.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

A common issue is with the drawer slides. They often break or get stuck on MALM furniture. Replacements are available directly from IKEA or from third-party suppliers.

The shelf supports (those small plastic clips) also tend to break quite often. They are easy to replace and usually inexpensive.

Drawer handles are also often an issue with MALM. Sometimes they break, especially if the drawer is used frequently.

Yes, especially the drawer handles. IKEA offers replacement handles separately. The replacement is simple: just unscrew the old handle and attach the new one.

I understand that it can be frustrating when parts keep breaking. I experienced the same with my MALM dresser and then wondered if there are more durable replacement parts or alternatives available.

Is there anyone here who modifies replacement parts or has found a more long-lasting solution?
