Good morning everyone,
I am currently doing maintenance on my Ikea Besta system and have come across the issue of spare parts. What I am particularly interested in is: which replacement parts for Ikea Besta are difficult to obtain, for example if you want to replace individual fittings, hinges, gliders, or the Besta frame?
There are the well-known standard parts, but I wonder if there are components that are significantly harder to get or are only available in limited quantities from Ikea.
Maybe some of you have experience with parts that can’t simply be ordered at the nearest Ikea store or online? I would appreciate a detailed overview—preferably with examples of which parts these are and how one might source them if Ikea doesn’t supply them.

Very exciting topic! I was recently looking for a single drawer bottom for my Bestå shelving unit myself. 😊 I learned that these parts are really not easy to get individually!
I was very lucky and went to an IKEA furniture service in person. There I was actually able to get a replacement – but you have to be lucky, because these are only available if there are leftovers.
So keep at it and don’t give up if you urgently need spare parts!

I think this topic has a bit of charm – as an affordable furniture giant, IKEA obviously doesn’t offer replacement parts in the luxury segment.
For Besta, I believe the hardest to get are:
- special front panels with unique designs
- fasteners (you can hardly replace them exactly)
- certain hinge variants
What I really like, though, is the option to combine modules flexibly and if something does break, you can get advice from this community or directly from IKEA.
So: Sometimes, patience is really the best kind of patience.

For example, if the specific hinge of a discontinued frame from the Bestå series breaks, it becomes difficult since the part is no longer manufactured. This is a very important point. Anyone working with this series for many years should carefully check the long-term availability of spare parts before making a new purchase.
Sometimes the only solution is to buy a used unit and salvage parts from it.

If these break, they are usually not available individually. Often, you have to buy entire sets, which is not very economical. That's true. I recently experienced this when replacing fasteners. You end up paying a lot more if the parts aren’t sold separately.
One possible workaround is to check with specialized furniture hardware suppliers – sometimes compatible alternatives can be found.

It’s also worth contacting them by phone or email – sometimes there are stock items that are not listed online.
You just have to be persistent and patient, especially with older models.
