Hello everyone, I recently got a Malm chest of drawers with several drawers and have noticed that some parts need replacing. Since I want to do the repairs myself, I’m particularly interested in which replacement parts for the Malm drawers are most important to ensure smooth operation. I’m thinking of wear parts like rails, rollers, or handles, as well as specific small components. I’m especially curious about which parts tend to break most often and which ones are best to keep in stock to quickly fix any issues. Thanks in advance for your experiences and tips!

Sliding and runner rails are the most important components. If they no longer operate smoothly, the drawer often sticks. Rollers are also important, if present.

I understand well how frustrating it can be when the drawers no longer close properly. In my case, the slides broke after a few years, which was annoying. It’s best to get several replacement parts right away to be on the safe side.

The Malm drawers use a relatively simple rail system consisting of two main components: the slides (drawer runners) and the end stops. For smooth operation, both the rails and the ball bearings or plastic glides are important, as they enable movement.

The most common parts to wear out are:
- Metal or plastic glides on the bottom of the drawer
- The drawer slides, which often include plastic bushings
- Handles, especially with heavy use

Additionally, small connecting parts such as screws should be mentioned, as they often cause problems when adjusting the drawers.

It is recommended to keep a stock of rails (or complete rail sets) and replacement rollers. Handles are less critical but can be replaced early if visible wear occurs.

Running rails, rollers, and stoppers should be prioritized. Otherwise, the drawer will quickly become difficult to operate.

Handles rarely break, but when they do, the drawer looks unattractive. That’s why I have always ordered at least one spare handle.
