Hello everyone,

A few years ago, I bought an IKEA Brimnes dresser, and now I’m noticing that various parts show wear or damage from everyday use. Before I start ordering any replacement parts, I wanted to ask here in the forum: Which replacement parts do you consider the most important or most commonly needed for the Brimnes series?

I’m especially interested in:
- Which parts are most likely to break with frequent use?
- Are there replacement parts that are essential to keep on hand?
- Are there any differences between the dresser and bed versions of the series?

I want to purchase replacement parts as efficiently and specifically as possible to enjoy the furniture for a long time without ordering unnecessary parts. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Does anyone have recommendations for third-party replacement rails or handles that are compatible with Brimnes?

Here is a tip: I have experience with third-party suppliers that offer drawer slides similar to IKEA’s. However, the dimensions sometimes vary enough that modifications are necessary, including new drilling on the cabinet carcass. This means the replacement is not plug-and-play.

Regarding handles, there is more flexibility as long as the drilling distances match. It’s worth being creative here if original parts are unavailable.

It is important to take precise measurements before ordering and, if possible, compare them with existing parts.

Alongside searching for spare parts, I also recommend checking the stability of the furniture carcass, especially for dressers with heavy loads from clothes or other items. Checking and tightening screws can prevent damage later on.

In summary:
- Drawer slides
- Handles
- Plastic bumpers

are the most important replacement parts.

Regularly tightening the screws significantly extends the lifespan of the furniture.

Thank you all for your helpful contributions!

I will definitely start by addressing the rails and handles and putting together a small spare parts kit. Inspection and maintenance are now clearer to me than before – I plan to regularly check screws and test the drawer operation.

Your assessments regarding third-party suppliers were very important; this shows me that it’s better to use original parts.

If anyone has experience with the durability of drawer slides, especially under higher loads, I would appreciate your feedback.
