Hello everyone,

I recently assembled some Hemnes furniture from IKEA and noticed that replacement parts for this model seem to be in quite high demand. Therefore, I am specifically interested in which replacement parts are most commonly needed for the IKEA Hemnes, especially for wardrobes, beds, and dressers.

I am particularly looking for practical experiences, such as which components typically wear out or break, whether there are problems with certain fasteners or connectors, and how readily available replacement parts generally are.

The goal is to get a comprehensive overview in order to plan proactively for a longer service life. Thank you in advance for your insights and experiences!

For Hemnes, wooden dowels and screws are the most common replacement parts. They tend to break easily during transport or assembly. Hinges on the doors can also sometimes get damaged. Just order them directly from IKEA, as replacements are often available.

Hello Jangau35, I completely understand your question. The Hemnes series is quite sturdy, but in everyday use, replacement parts for the drawer slides are often needed because they wear out or get stuck over time. The plastic glides under the drawers can also get damaged and should be replaced to prevent damage to the furniture and the floor.

Additionally, the headboards and their connections on Hemnes beds are often affected, especially if they are heavily loaded or moved. Connectors, screws, and small wooden parts tend to break more frequently in these cases.

Overall, I would say the most common replacement parts are screws, wooden dowels, hinges, drawer glides, and sometimes individual wooden parts like the back panel.

Hinges and screws are definitely the most requested spare parts. The front connector system in Hemnes dressers is also prone to issues. When the drawers become loose, you often need the runners or glides.

A systematic review shows that the most commonly needed replacement parts for IKEA Hemnes mainly fall into three categories:

- Fasteners such as screws and wooden dowels that break due to assembly errors or material fatigue.
- Door hinges that loosen or break with frequent use.
- Mechanisms and glides for drawer slides that are affected by wear over time.

The Hemnes series typically uses specially shaped metal or plastic parts for the drawer systems, which can wear out over time. Replacement parts are available through IKEA, but accurate identification depends on the type of furniture.

Using reinforcements or glue during assembly can help prevent damage.

Exactly, I can confirm that! 😄 Especially when drawers are opened and closed frequently (who can really say no to that?), these small mechanisms are definitely the weak points.

I also once had a neighbor with a loose door hinge that squeaked like crazy – replacement parts were quickly provided thanks to IKEA’s logistics.

So, screws, hinges, and especially the drawer slides – basically the three main challenges in the spare parts world for Hemnes.
