Good morning everyone, some time ago I bought an IKEA Hemnes dresser, which I really appreciate. Now I have a question: Based on your experience, which spare parts for IKEA Hemnes dressers are especially important or common to replace over time, or should possibly be kept in stock? I’m thinking of parts like drawer slides, handles, screws, or other mechanical components. My goal is to proactively obtain spare parts before any issues occur, to keep daily use as smooth as possible. Perhaps someone with experience across different models can share tips on which parts are most prone to wear and therefore likely to need replacement. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I think it’s great that you’re making such a detailed plan! I’ve had my Hemnes dresser for years and once had an issue with a broken handle – luckily, spare parts are available.

Also, the drawer slides are really the weak point. I even recommend replacing them proactively if they start to squeak or become difficult to operate. That way, everything stays in great condition!

In summary, the following spare parts are important for IKEA Hemnes dressers in terms of durability and functionality:
- Drawer slides and their plastic runners
- Handles including screws
- Fastening clips for the back panel
- Drawer stoppers and dampers
Replacing these parts promptly or keeping them in stock prevents most issues and significantly extends the dresser’s lifespan.

I think the Hemnes dressers are like old friends – sturdy, but sometimes they just need a bit of care. 😎

So, at the top of my “spare parts” list are the handles. After years, they can loosen or the screw threads can wear out.

Also, the drawer slides! If they are misaligned or wobbly, opening the drawers stops being enjoyable. Having replacements on hand is priceless. And hey, using felt pads under the drawers also helps reduce wear.

Small things, big impact!

Some Hemnes models use inexpensive plastic parts that can become brittle over time.

This is an important tip for me, thanks. Are there also different versions of the drawer slides depending on the production year? I have a model from 2015 and want to find replacement parts that fit as precisely as possible. If anyone has details on this, that would be very helpful.

Another good recommendation! How complicated is it to remove the slides? I want to make sure I’m not facing a difficult disassembly.
