Hello! I wanted to ask which security rating you chose for your windows? I was advised to have RC2 on the ground floor and RC1N on the upper floors. The architect says this might not be necessary and would add about €1600. Best regards

I consider RC2 for the ground floor to be almost mandatory. I’m not sure how it works with an alarm system, but we also had window sensors installed. Nothing is 100% secure, but if I feel safer, that’s enough for me. We use the Eimsig house display from Eimsig alarm systems and just last year added the window sensors. Now I can even leave the window tilted when we’re away for the weekend.

I would never leave windows tilted open when I leave the house, regardless of the security level.
Do you mean break sensors or magnetic contacts?

The RC2 rating should be at least applied on the ground floor; I wouldn’t go lower than that. An extra 1600 for it is a joke... later on, you end up counting at least double that.

Are you referring to glass break sensors or magnetic contacts?

Glass break sensors. The "tilted open" remark was just to illustrate how secure it is supposedly supposed to be.

For us, RC2 was unfortunately much too expensive (over 7000 euros for the entire house). We are now using RC2n throughout the whole house, which was significantly cheaper, as the glass panes seem to be the most expensive part.

Best regards,

RC2n is like RC2 but with "simpler panes," right?
