Hello everyone,
I recently purchased the Ikea Metod assembly kit to build my kitchen. I noticed that the instructions mention different types of screws but don’t clearly specify which screws are actually included in the assembly kit and which I would need to buy separately.
My specific question is: Which screws are included in the Ikea Metod assembly kit so I can avoid any surprises during installation?
I’m also interested to know whether the screws vary depending on the kitchen unit (e.g., wall cabinets, base cabinets, or drawer systems), or if the kit contains a uniform assortment of screws.
I would appreciate a detailed explanation of exactly which screws are included in the set and whether there are any special screws that should be purchased additionally.
Thank you in advance!

The Metod assembly set from Ikea typically includes the following screws:
- Wood screws (in various lengths, mostly 30 mm (1 1/4 inches) and 40 mm (1 5/8 inches)) for attaching the carcass components
- Dowels or wooden dowels for joining the individual panels
- Cam lock screws (also known as Minifix) for connecting the panels at the sides
- Assembly screws for attaching the back panels (usually thinner screws)
Special screws for drawer slides or doors are generally included separately in the respective accessory kits and are not part of the standard assembly set. Therefore, this set is mainly intended for the basic assembly of the cabinets and their connections.

Great question! 🙂 I used the Metod assembly kit myself and can say that the kit mainly covers all the necessary screws for the basic construction! The eccentric screws are really handy for the side connections.
However, I needed separate screws for the handles and hinges, but in my case, these were included in the door assembly package. So always pay attention to what comes separately!

A small but important note: Some screws in the Metod assembly kit are galvanized and have different head types (e.g., cross or Torx). This mainly applies to the wood screws. Depending on the load, you should make sure to use the correct screws from the kit in the designated spots to ensure stability.
Additionally, it can be helpful to check before purchasing the kit whether your kitchen has special requirements (e.g., particularly high loads or wall fixings in areas with low stability). In such cases, it is advisable to obtain additional longer screws or anchors.
