Hello everyone, I recently assembled an IKEA Platsa wardrobe and noticed that I seemed to be missing several screws, which significantly delayed the assembly. I would like to know: Which screws are most commonly forgotten or overlooked during the IKEA Platsa assembly? Are there specific parts or fasteners that you should pay special attention to in order to avoid unexpected interruptions during the build? I would appreciate your experiences and tips!
Good method from baupau! Additionally, I would like to add: When sorting, it’s worth carefully checking the screws by length and diameter. In the assembly kit, there are screws that look very similar but are intended for completely different joints. Mixing these up can, for example, cause the back panel to be unstable or lead to pressure marks forming in the end.
The cam locks and dowels also vary not only in size but sometimes in length – it’s best to cross-check them in the manual’s parts lists rather than just sorting by eye.
Finally: If the cabinet will be used for heavy loads, make sure to use the long plastic dowels included. These are sometimes overlooked because, unlike the other screws, they are packaged separately in small bags. I hope this helps for as error-free a planning process as possible.

Unfortunately, I once used the "wrong" screw and had to take everything apart again. Now I'm worried it might happen again. How do you handle this technically? Do you always measure precisely or just rely on the pictures in the manual?

The visual cues in the manual are helpful but often not enough to be completely certain. Especially the cam locks come in different sizes, and a mistake here can make assembly more difficult later on.

Don’t get discouraged, everyone – PLATSA can really deliver!
