Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of a new Ikea Besta cabinet and am wondering which screws are the most durable for this piece of furniture.

I know that Ikea often uses their own fasteners, which are not always the most robust, especially with frequent assembly and disassembly or when the furniture is subjected to some load.

Therefore, I am particularly interested in:
- Which screws are recommended to improve the stability and durability of a Besta cabinet?
- Should certain materials or coatings be considered to prevent rust or wear?
- Are there any brands or types of replacement screws that have proven reliable in practice?

I am specifically looking for long-lasting screw solutions that provide lasting security for the Besta furniture even with frequent use. Looking forward to your experiences and advice!

As an addition: It is important when screwing the Besta together to ensure that the screws are not recessed too deeply, as this can reduce the stability of the furniture.

Pre-drilling can also be helpful, especially with harder types of wood or when using larger screws.

If the goal is a long-lasting, stable solution, you can also use wood connectors such as cam locks or metal brackets for additional reinforcement.

Regarding the screws: Make sure to use rust-resistant materials with a Torx drive, as this significantly increases durability.

From a technical perspective, brands like Spax are well suited for chipboard screws.

I can confirm that. Spax screws are durable, rust-resistant, and work well for BESTA.

Also, you should always consider how often you will be taking the cabinet apart and assembling it again.

For frequent assembly, it’s better to use screws with finer threads, as they are gentler on the wood.

If you're not moving or remodeling every day, the original screws should actually be sufficient with regular checks.

It would be great if Ikea could also stick to their "lasts-forever" promise 😉

A tip from me for everyone: check and tighten the screws regularly!

And if you upgrade: stainless steel and Torx screws really give your BESTA unit a boost, no frills.

Furniture is like good friends – with the right screws, the relationship lasts forever 😄
