Hello everyone,

I would be interested to know which security standard you have chosen for your windows. I have set up a survey for this. Due to the many possible combinations, please select the option that best applies. Any additional details can be provided in the free text section.

Only those who have voted themselves can see the results.

Good luck

RC2N... That’s the version without the safety glass, right? From today’s perspective, I would say that the biggest weak point for me and many others is the door from the garage to the utility room. Once inside the garage, you have plenty of time for this area, and the garage door itself isn’t much of a barrier.

The main thing is to always be one level better than the neighbors. (If the neighbor has an old Golf and you have a 7 Series, then two levels better )

Yes, RC2N is without the safety glass.

Thanks @Alex85
I will add my vote later.

In our case:
Basement windows (light well) are RC2, since that area is poorly visible. There is also a floor-to-ceiling element in the living room on the same side as the basement window, so that is also RC2. Everywhere else, it’s basically RC2N (meaning only the fittings are RC2, windows have standard triple glazing, so without P4A laminated safety glass).

The surcharge for the basement window in RC2 compared to standard was about €150, and about €180 for the living room window.
The surcharge for the entire upper floor in RC2N is €170, for example for the whole basement and ground floor in RC2 it is €4,400, which is simply too much for us. Price info for the whole ground floor in RC2N is still missing but should be similar to the upper floor, so about €170.

Most likely, the laminated safety glass is the main cost driver here, so:
Fittings everywhere are RC2N (for the entire house, 11 windows, including 2 large sliding doors), since the surcharge of about €300 is acceptable. RC2, meaning fittings and laminated safety glass, only where visibility is poor (light well side). The front door will be “based on RC2,” whatever that means. That is more of a subjective requirement for my wife—I wouldn’t need it, as the front door faces directly onto the street. So we found a fairly reasonable solution for ourselves, meaning about €700 net for at least RC2 fittings everywhere, and additional laminated safety glass where there is poor visibility. However, I doubt anyone will ever break through the glass, so we think “only” the fittings are sufficient.
As far as I know, the police recommend RC2 for basement and ground floor, and RC2N for the upper floor, but for me the more than €5,000 surcharge is not reasonable.
