Hello

I currently have a Bosch PBH 220 RE drill, but sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle when working on walls, and my drill is quite old.

I’m considering getting a new one if there’s a noticeable advantage. I was thinking about a Hilti or a model like the Bosch GBH 5-40 DCE, or the Bosch GBH 2-28 DFV, or maybe keeping my current drill and just getting new drill bits.

What would you recommend? The drill bits are only about 10 years old.

Best regards

Small DIY tools are really not suitable for structural work. You need something like a Hilti for that.
This reminds me of a quote from a consultation when I was told that a DIY tool for my purposes (drilling holes in walls and ceilings) would last for 10 new builds. I then asked why people still buy a Hilti. The answer was: "With a Hilti, you can demolish 10 houses and still pass it down."

I have (yes, me as a woman!) a Hilti TE 2 and am very satisfied with it.

There’s nothing like good quality tools!

During our gutting work, we used a large green Bosch and a big old Hilti machine. The Hilti machine was extremely heavy but hardly stopped anything.

Good tools are essential if you want to do a lot yourself. Even more important is using the right tool for the intended purpose. Otherwise, it can become very difficult and time-consuming if the wrong tool is used for the wrong job.
