ᐅ Which roller shutter motors are suitable for central control?

Hello,

We have planned to install shutters throughout our house, which are to be operated electrically.
We have now received a quote for the motors, which I find quite bold. The upgrade of each shutter with an E-Motor Siral EL4 50/8nm without power supply cable costs around €175. What do you think of these motors? I would like to control all the shutters together via a central control system. Is it advisable to use radio frequency (RF) control? Or would wired installation be more cost-effective? What additional costs should I expect for the connection and switches? How reliable are these Siral motors, and are they worth the price? The offer comes from the company that will also be installing the shutters... Shouldn’t I receive a credit since the belt winders are not needed? The manual shutters were already included in the contract and have been paid for...

Wireless technology is definitely not state of the art, and where exactly can you be flexible with roller shutters???

From my experience, window installers usually recommend a wireless solution because it can be fully implemented within their trade. For a wired solution, an electrician needs to be involved.

I would only use wireless for retrofitting. We have equipped our 5 roller shutters in the open living/dining/kitchen area with a central switch. It works perfectly.

Exactly, that is usually the reason, because roller shutter and window manufacturers can simply make more money with radio-controlled systems... and this approach shows that your needs are not the priority and you were basically given the wrong advice.

My window installer tried the same and painted the Somfy system in an overly positive light while speaking poorly about Rademacher, etc. Well, three years later, I still have more options with my motors than with Somfy.

Just get independent advice...

This is also where the safety aspect comes into play. With a wireless system, anyone who wants to access the system from outside can do so. This is not possible with a wired solution.

If it’s a new build, then definitely go with wired.

NONSENSE!
I tend to be rather paranoid about these kinds of things as well. However, not just anyone can simply access a secured wireless system.
Still, if possible, I would install only wired systems.

I think you misunderstood me. So to be a bit more specific: Anyone who wants to and has a bit of criminal intent can get into the system.
