Hello everyone,
I have a detached double garage with a flat roof (concrete slab with 2cm (1 inch) PUR insulation and plastic waterproofing). The walls are made of 24cm (9.5 inches) Poroton bricks / hollow clay blocks (with a bulk density of 0.8 or 0.9).

What base plaster would you recommend for the exterior and interior? The suppliers suggested KNAUF LUP 222 (lightweight lime-cement plaster). What are your thoughts on this? Would you rather avoid using the lightweight aggregate?

I can't specifically recommend an exterior plastering product. But before I would apply an interior plaster to a garage, I would admit myself to a mental institution. I can hardly think of a more reckless way to save money.

My masonry garage has an interior plaster finish. What would be a (more affordable) alternative other than an exposed raw wall?

Theoretically, lime wash or similar low-cost coatings. But in practice, a car doesn’t have any expectations about the architectural design of its parking space (although it’s welcome to treat itself to something nicer with its own pocket money). It’s quite something if things start making demands—but not as long as my wallet keeps a clear head.

It is a simple scratch render, and the general contractor chose it because it was the cheapest option for them to implement. I have no idea whether lime slurry would save costs or how the wall would ultimately look with it.

He probably didn’t dare to leave the raw metal exposed, or he thought it would look unprofessional in the scope of work description.
