What size network cabinet should we choose for our equipment while allowing room for future expansion?
We want to put the following into the network cabinet:
1x patch panel
1x 16-port switch
1x Fritzbox 6690 standing
1x 19-inch power strip
1x desktop NAS
What would you recommend for a network cabinet and necessary accessories?
I have selected the following:
Network cabinet, 45cm (18 inches) deep and 12U height
Is 12U a good size for us, or should we go for 15U?
What accessories do we need?
The patch panel and switch need to be installed at the top because the patch cables are not long enough for the bottom.
Should we include a shelf?
Power strip with a switch and surge protection, or without?
Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,
I bought two boards from the hardware store, each 50cm (20 inches) wide, cut them to the right length, screwed them together, and anchored them to the wall. That was the network cabinet.
Apart from the router, it contains a setup very similar to the one you have planned.
Best regards,
Andreas

Sorry, but what’s going wrong with you? You should start keeping track of what questions you’ve already asked under which of your nicknames.
For everyone else: He neither reads nor understands the answers. So you can save yourselves the effort.
Here is your last question on the topic from one of your other accounts, in case you’ve already forgotten:
