Mudo1991Hello everyone,
We will soon be installing a wooden beam ceiling for the attic. What material would you use to finish the attic floor? It needs to be walkable to store a few boxes and decorations. Therefore, I am looking for an affordable solution. So far, I have only thought of OSB or tongue-and-groove boards.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks 🙂

In general, tongue and groove boards are recommended because they allow vapor to pass through. However, they are a bit more work to install than OSB panels.
With OSB, I would leave gaps along the edges for ventilation underneath.
Theoretically, dry screed panels or something similar might be possible, but it wouldn’t be any cheaper...
You could also try searching (e**y) classified ads for old floorboards from demolition and renovation projects...

Do you have any other ideas? These are probably the two more practical options. I would choose the one I prefer to install. For me, that would be rough-sawn boarding, as it is easier to handle and leftover pieces can be used in the stove or for other purposes around/in the house.Similar topics
