Hello everyone,

I am planning to equip my IKEA PAX wardrobe with suitable lighting and would like to hear about your experiences and recommendations. My question is: which lighting options work best with PAX, especially regarding light quality, ease of installation, and power connection? I am interested in both the types of light sources that are most suitable (e.g., LED strips, spotlights, or other solutions) and practical aspects like simple retrofitting, dimmable options, or motion sensors.

I am looking for a solution that fits well with the clean, modern design of PAX and is practical for everyday use – providing good illumination without glare and being as energy-efficient as possible. Perhaps you also have tips on wiring in case there is no power outlet nearby.

Thanks in advance for your insights and advice!

Regarding the question "Which lighting options work best with PAX," the following can be said from a technical perspective:
- LED strips are the most commonly used solution because they can be cut and positioned flexibly. They provide even lighting and consume little power.
- Under-cabinet spotlights with warm white LED light are ideal if you want directed lighting for clothing or interior compartments.
- Motion sensors increase convenience and save energy but should be of high quality to avoid false triggers.

Ease of installation is achieved with self-adhesive or magnetic LED solutions that require no drilling and are easy to replace.

If there is no power outlet, battery-operated LED modules are an alternative, though battery status should be monitored regularly.

In summary, I recommend dimmable warm white LED modules for indoor use, combined with motion sensors where power supply is available.

That’s true, motion sensors are very convenient, especially if you frequently open closet doors. For those who don’t have much experience with PAX lighting yet: there are also simple LED lights that can be attached with Velcro or magnets – ideal for rental apartments since they leave no marks.

However, it’s important to make sure the color temperature of the light matches the room. Warm white creates a cozy atmosphere, while neutral white is better if you want to judge clothing colors accurately.

A tip: if you like to dim the lights in the evening, check that the LED lights are dimmable, as not all are designed for this.

I would like to add to the discussion with a brief overview and practical details.

1. LED Strips:
- Advantage: Flexible length, easy installation (self-adhesive), even lighting
- Disadvantage: Frequent power supply replacements may be necessary if not permanently connected

2. LED Spotlights:
- Advantage: Focused light, particularly suitable for deeper cabinets or highlighting specific areas
- Disadvantage: Installation usually requires drilling or additional mounting brackets

3. Motion Sensors:
- In my experience, especially useful in PAX wardrobes, as the light automatically turns on when the cabinet door is opened.
- When purchasing, pay attention to detection range and delay time to avoid unnecessary continuous lighting.

4. Power Supply:
- Direct 12V or 230V connection is possible, depending on the type of lights chosen.
- For DIY solutions, professional installation is recommended, especially for fixed electrical connections.

In conclusion, for self-installation I recommend LED strips with warm white light, separately switchable, and ideally with a motion sensor. This keeps the overall look modern and functional.

The best option is LED strips that can be attached inside the PAX unit. They are energy-efficient and provide good lighting. If you don’t have a power outlet, battery-operated versions are a practical alternative. Motion sensors can be easily integrated, which increases convenience. Make sure to use dimmable lights, as they are useful in the evening.
