Hello everyone, I am considering which LED lighting is best suited for the Ikea Pax wardrobe system. My main focus is on achieving a pleasant but bright illumination that either turns on automatically when the wardrobe doors are opened or can be operated via a smart switch. Additionally, the solution should be as easy to install as possible since I want to avoid complicated installations. How have you solved this? Which LED systems are compatible and offer good value for money? I look forward to your experiences and recommendations.

Self-adhesive LED strips operating at 12V are especially effective because they are easy to install and do not require a transformer that generates a lot of heat.

Thank you for this information, raquel52. I am not sure why a transformer generating a lot of heat should be problematic. Do you have more details on this? Also, I wonder whether a battery-powered system should be completely ruled out if you want to avoid complex wiring. What do the experts say about this?

This is because transformers that generate a lot of heat can quickly overheat inside a closed Ikea Pax wardrobe, which can shorten the lifespan of the electronics. Additionally, this poses an increased safety risk. A modern, low-heat LED driver based on a switching power supply is more efficient and significantly safer to install.

Battery-powered systems are basically possible, but you need to pay close attention to power consumption. High-power LED strips use a lot of energy, so batteries run out quickly. For small panels or LED spots with energy-saving sensors, this is still acceptable. For permanent, bright wardrobe lighting, wired solutions are more recommended.
