ᐅ What IP rating is recommended for garage electrical outlets?

Hello.
In our garage, standard electrical outlets were installed, the same as inside the house, so with a very low IP rating. Does anyone know if a higher IP rating is required in the garage (unheated/solid construction) and where this is regulated?
Kind regards
Peter

Unfortunately, these are only available for purchase, and I don’t think I would understand them anyway due to the technical jargon. As long as the current IP20 version is sufficient, I would leave it as is.

Have ones with a cover installed. That would be completely sufficient.

My current offer also mentions IP 44.
IP 20 is not water-resistant, whereas IP 44 is.

That’s not necessary. A garage usually has a roof.
It would be different if there was a water tap nearby, but there is no mention of that.

Just the day before yesterday, we discussed this thoroughly with our electrician: opinions differ widely when it comes to garages. Yes, it is an uninsulated space that is not nearly as airtight as a residential building, but that does not automatically classify it as a damp room. Therefore, it becomes difficult to require specific equipment unless it is clearly regulated.

Garage = flush-mounted box with cover + switch used as an access point. I have never really noticed flush-mounted boxes in garages 😉

For access points with a flip cover, I have had good experience with Gira. Otherwise, I have recently installed Berker flush-mounted stainless steel boxes with flip covers for outdoor use (covered terrace). These definitely make a better impression than the common Gira TX and standard models with flip covers, and they are also cheaper. (The covers of the Gira flush-mounted boxes always break after a while; the springs are really poor.)
