Hello everyone, I am currently focusing on the IKEA PAX wardrobe and considering which other IKEA projects might complement it well to enhance the storage concept and possibly extend it visually. I’m especially interested in solutions that combine nicely with the PAX system, whether as matching complementary furniture, interior fittings, or additions like shelving systems or sliding doors. It would be helpful if the suggested projects also take into account the dimensions or design of the PAX and cover different uses (e.g., shoe storage, clothing organization, or accessory storage). Which IKEA projects have you combined with PAX in practice or can recommend based on your experience? Are there products that harmonize particularly well and integrate seamlessly with PAX?
Hey Takijo, great question! I think the PAX systems are really versatile. I especially like combining PAX with the BESTÅ system—especially if you need something for the room that holds more than just clothes, like decorations or electronics. For interior organization, I swear by the KOMPLEMENT shelves and drawers; they fit perfectly and make the wardrobe very orderly! If you need something for a shoe rack, I can recommend the TRONES drawers—they match the style of PAX well and are practical! Just give it a try, there are so many combinations that are really fun.
Hello Takijo, your question is very well posed because you specifically focus on integrating IKEA projects with the PAX system, considering both design and functionality. For an optimal combination, it is important to keep the dimensions of the PAX in mind (e.g., width 50, 75, or 100 cm (20, 30, or 40 inches), height, and depth). A often underestimated complementary option is the KALLAX shelving system, which can also be equipped with suitable inserts (boxes, doors) for clothing or accessories – KALLAX is very versatile due to its square shape. Another technical tip: when choosing sliding doors, the KOMPLEMENT sets with mirrors or glass for PAX are highly recommended because they are very sturdy and adaptable. Are you working with a rather small room or do you have plenty of space? This significantly influences how the modules work together.
Takijo, for a functional and clear extension of the PAX system, the KOMPLEMENT interiors are particularly suitable: drawers with soft-close mechanisms, removable dividers, and laundry baskets are technically advanced and increase usability. When combined with matching shelves, space utilization can be optimized. As an addition outside of the PAX system, shelving units that match in color and material are recommended, such as the Ivar system made from pine wood, if more natural materials are preferred. I suggest taking precise measurements and creating a floor plan before purchasing the additional furniture to avoid conflicts.

PeoDaniel26 Mar 2023 08:42Hello Takijo, I would like to add that the PAX system is very well complemented by the adjustable interior dimensions, allowing accessories such as the KOMPLEMENT drawer insert for jewelry or the clothes rail for hanging garments. Additionally, I have had very good experiences with expanding it using the LACK wall shelf in combination when you need extra storage space. This looks visually appealing and can serve as a shelf above the PAX. Another tip is to use storage boxes from the Grundtal system, which you can place inside the PAX or next to it as flexible inserts.
As an additional note: It should generally be considered that the PAX system is modular, allowing the installation of additional components – for example, the PAX frames can be customized with various sliding door fronts. When combined with projects like Malm dressers, which have a similar modern aesthetic, a harmonious overall appearance can be achieved. However, it is important to check whether the height and depth measurements match when integrating them, in order to avoid visual inconsistencies and issues with space utilization.
