Hello everyone, I have the following question where I’m not entirely sure and would appreciate your opinions and experiences: Which Ikea Platsa shelving units offer the best weight distribution, especially when storing heavy items? I am quite familiar with the product line but often find the information on maximum load capacity and weight distribution of the individual modules somewhat unclear. Specifically, I am interested in whether there are certain PLATSA versions or combinations that are known for providing particularly stable load distribution due to their construction. For modified models with metal frames and fixed back panels, the load capacity can generally be higher, sometimes up to 20 kilograms (44 pounds) per shelf, as the metal parts help distribute the load more effectively. However, it is still advisable to store heavy items at the bottom and distribute the load centrally and as evenly as possible. The usable load also depends on the overall stability of the construction.

I completely agree, metal frames are essential when it comes to heavy loads! At my home, the PLATSA shelf easily holds 30 kg (66 lbs) on one shelf as long as the back panel is stable and the shelf is properly secured. Simply perfect for safely storing your valuables.
