Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to set up a walk-in closet and am very interested in the Ikea Pax wardrobe series. Since the options with Pax are very diverse, especially regarding different widths, heights, depths, and interior configurations, I have the following question: Which Ikea Pax wardrobes are particularly suitable for walk-in closets?

I am especially concerned with aspects such as:
- optimal dimensions for small to medium-sized walk-in closets
- flexibility in interior design, e.g., for shoes, hanging clothes, drawers
- stability and quality of workmanship with frequent use
- sensible combinations, especially when the closet space can be freely planned

If anyone has experience with specific models or combinations, or can offer helpful tips for planning and selection, I would greatly appreciate your insights!

For an optimal selection of Ikea Pax systems in walk-in closets, I recommend:

- Modules with a depth of 75 cm (30 inches), preferably 236 cm (93 inches) in height
- A combination of widths of 50 and 75 cm (20 and 30 inches), depending on storage needs
- Use of sturdy back panels and wall mounting
- Incorporation of specialized interior fittings for shoes, drawers, and hanging rods
- Open designs are possible, but doors increase stability
- Integrate lighting for better visibility

The planning should be specifically tailored to the room dimensions and individual usage.

This summarizes the technical and practical aspects that are essential for a functional walk-in closet system using Pax.

Thank you for the many helpful responses!

I plan to combine the Pax wardrobes with a depth of 75 cm (30 inches) and a height of 236 cm (93 inches), using the 50 cm (20 inches) wide modules mainly as shelves and the 75 cm (30 inches) wide ones for hanging clothes.

Wall mounting is planned, but doors will be omitted for now. I will also install additional reinforcement to prevent twisting.

The interior layout will primarily consist of clothing rods, drawers, and shoe racks. I will also integrate LED lighting, which seems very practical.

If anyone has specific product recommendations from the Pax interior range or tips for practical planning, I would appreciate it!

That sounds like a well-thought-out plan! I would also recommend choosing drawers with a soft-close system. It provides a lot of comfort in daily use over time.

For the clothes rails, there are different lengths – 58 cm (23 inches) and 78 cm (31 inches) – depending on the cabinet depth. For 75 cm (30 inches) depth, you should opt for the longer ones.

Regarding shoe racks: slanted ones are great if you have many shoes; otherwise, simple adjustable shelves also work well. Good luck!
