Hello everyone,
I am currently focusing on planning a new wardrobe system and have come across the Ikea PAX series. Since there are so many variations and combinations, I’m interested in which Ikea PAX options offer the best storage solutions.
For me, it’s mainly about efficient use of space, flexibility with shelves, drawers, and clothes rails, as well as practical extras like inner drawers or compartments. Features such as the depth, width, and height of the individual units are also important.
Does anyone have experience with different versions and can recommend which configurations work best for limited space and varying storage needs?
Thanks in advance for your insights and tips!

What would you recommend? Modules with varying depth and special interior fittings?Based on your requirements, I would definitely recommend choosing the 58 cm (23 inches) depth for the hanging sections. Shirts, blouses, and other garments need that space to avoid being crushed.
For underwear and socks, internal drawers from Pax are ideal because they keep things organized and maintain a tidy wardrobe.
Sweaters and t-shirts benefit from sturdy, adjustable shelves – you can also use boxes or baskets on these.
Shoes can be stored either at the very bottom of the wardrobe in shallow drawers or with specialized shoe racks available as built-in elements.
A combination of wider 58 cm (23 inches) carcasses for hanging clothes and narrower 35 cm (14 inches) carcasses for shoes and shelves helps you optimize the space and stay flexible.
I would recommend experimenting with the Ikea kitchen planner app or Pax planner app to try out different combinations, using smaller modules specifically. This will make adjustments easier later on.
