Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a new bedroom solution and have come across the Ikea Pax series. I am particularly interested in which Pax models offer the most flexible interior fittings. I am mainly thinking of adjustable shelves, drawer inserts, hanging rails, and perhaps accessories that allow for easy modification of the internal layout.

Are there specific versions within the Pax range that stand out due to especially modular or easily reconfigurable interiors? It would also be important to know if there are differences between the various widths or the models available in Germany.

I look forward to your experiences and tips to find out how I can best set up the wardrobe to be flexible and customized!

The standard Pax wardrobes are all quite flexible. You can freely combine shelves, hanging rods, and drawers.

Width and height only affect how many accessories you can install.

The "Pax 50x58x201 cm (20x23x79 inches)" model, in particular, is a popular choice with a lot of design options.

Additional information: The Pax series is fundamentally a modular system with various base models that are highly customizable. All door and carcass versions are compatible with the same interior systems.

Important for flexible interiors are the fit and depth: models with a depth of 58 cm (23 inches, standard) offer more storage space and more options for interior elements than narrower versions.

It is also worthwhile to use the adjustable shelves, which can be positioned in 2 cm (1 inch) increments, as well as the combination of drawer inserts and clothes rails. Accessories are available at every Ikea store and can be easily replaced or expanded as needed.

In summary:
- Base model with 58 cm (23 inches) depth for maximum flexibility
- Interior fittings made from modular components such as shelves, drawers, clothes rails
- 2 cm (1 inch) increments allow individual adjustments
- The same interior accessories fit all Pax carcasses

These features ensure a flexible and later modifiable interior design.

Hey, I got the Pax 100x58x236 cm (39x23x93 inches) about a year ago and I’m really impressed! The interior fittings are incredibly flexible, especially the combination of drawers and clothing rails 😄.

You can easily rearrange the shelves and inserts, which is super practical when your needs change. A big advantage of this model is also the wide range of accessories available, from baskets to inner drawers – everything fits together perfectly!

So don’t worry about choosing; with the Pax models, you really can’t go wrong. Just try it out and adjust as needed!

Kenpeo, I understand that you are looking for a clear and definitive answer. For your information: the flexibility in Ikea Pax models is mainly in the interior fittings rather than in the actual carcass options.

All Pax wardrobes – whether with sliding doors, hinged doors, or open – use the same basic system with adjustable shelves and accessories. The difference is usually in the size (width/height/depth), with the 58 cm (23 inches) depth being the standard in Germany.

Please note:
- Accessories only fit certain depths, for example, 35 cm (14 inches) accessories will not fit in a 58 cm (23 inches) depth.
- Interior customization is mostly done by repositioning shelves, as well as adding drawers, storage baskets, and clothing rails.
- Accessories can be freely combined within the modular system.

If you want a particularly flexible model, I definitely recommend a version with 58 cm (23 inches) depth and a tall carcass. The additional height allows for more shelves and a more versatile interior layout.

If you are interested in sliding doors: the interior remains variable here as well, but the door movement might slightly limit access.

Hope this helps!

At first, I found the range of options with Pax quite overwhelming because there are so many possibilities. It was especially important to me not to finalize all the interior fittings right away, since needs can change in everyday life.

The flexibility of Ikea Pax models actually lies in the interior accessories rather than the actual carcass variants.

I can only confirm that because I initially had a very conventional interior layout but quickly realized I needed more drawers and upgraded accordingly. Replacing the interior inserts is straightforward.

Since the system is modular and designed to be visible, you don’t feel forced to get everything 100% right immediately.

However, you should make sure to choose the 58 cm (23 inch) depth from the start, as the accessories for shallower models are significantly more limited.

In conclusion, I would say the biggest advantage of the Pax range is definitely the ability to make adjustments at any time without having to buy new furniture. That saved me a lot of stress.
