Hello everyone, I am planning to get an Ikea PAX wardrobe but face the challenge of very limited space in my apartment. My main question is: Which of the different PAX modules from Ikea are the most efficient in terms of space utilization when the available area is small and tight? I am especially interested in dimensions, internal divisions, and the flexibility of the modules to make the best use of small niches without losing space due to thick side panels or impractical depths. Additionally, it would be great if someone could share experiences with the different depth options or narrower widths. Thanks in advance for any helpful answers!

If you have very limited space, consider using frame doors instead of sliding doors with a depth of 35cm (14 inches). Although they require slightly more clearance to open, they allow you to fully utilize the interior space.

Thanks to everyone, your contributions have helped me a lot to see the topic from a more nuanced perspective. I will probably test a combination of 35cm (14 inches) depth, 50cm (20 inches) width, and sliding doors. The most important thing now is careful planning of the interior fittings to maximize the available storage space without further restricting the narrow room situation.

I stand by my opinion: Pax is nice, but not necessarily perfect for every small space. Wouldn’t it be worth considering completely alternative systems or custom-made solutions as well? After all, every room situation is unique.

That is basically true, but the cost-benefit ratio of PAX compared to custom-made options usually remains favorable, especially if you want to stay flexible.

Limited space, lots of frustration – I know that feeling. The tips here helped me, and especially the sliding doors are a real advantage. However, I am also planning for possible extensions in case the space increases in the future. Flexibility is my most important criterion.
