Hello everyone, I am currently planning the setup of a children's room using Ikea Pax wardrobes and was wondering which Pax doors are especially suitable for a children's room. I am particularly interested in how the different doors compare in terms of safety, durability, handling, and child-friendly design. Are there any recommendations on which materials or door types are better suited for lively children? Practical aspects such as easy cleaning and robustness are also important. I look forward to your experiences and opinions!

Just recently, we added magnets to the handles to make accidental opening more difficult. The space savings are unbeatable, and the look remains modern. Additionally, you can apply colorful chalkboard films, which really stand out on sliding doors. So, definitely recommended if you want something a bit more creative.
In summary: For maximum safety, classic hinged doors with soft-close mechanisms and no glass panels are the best choice. Sliding doors are acceptable for slightly older children or when you want to maximize space, provided regular maintenance is performed and any necessary safety features are installed. The material should have a durable, easy-to-clean surface, preferably in light colors to create a welcoming atmosphere. Pax offers a good range of variable fronts to choose suitable doors effectively.
After several weeks with our PAX doors in the children's room, I would strongly advise against white lacquered doors with soft-close hinges if the children are very active. The lacquer quickly shows small scratches and dents, which can be polished out, but it requires effort. The laminated doors are more durable and resistant to daily wear and tear. This is probably an aspect that is rarely mentioned in most tests and reviews.
Thank you all for your detailed and very diverse perspectives. I found the comment about the durability of the surface finishes and the assessment of how sliding doors perform in everyday use particularly interesting. I think I will probably choose a combination of laminated hinged doors with soft-close hinges to ensure both safety and durability. For older children, I might also consider using individual sliding doors. Thanks to everyone for the constructive discussion!
