Hello everyone, I am currently trying to decide which doors to choose for my new Ikea Pax wardrobe, and I have one main question: Which Ikea Pax doors are the easiest to clean?
I am looking not only for doors that match the style but also for ones that are easy to maintain in everyday use, as I have experienced that some surfaces can be very sensitive or difficult to clean. Important factors for me are surface texture (smooth, matte, textured), materials, and how prone they are to fingerprints, dust, or grease marks.
Has anyone had experience with the different Pax door options, such as high gloss, mirrored, wood effect, or sliding doors? Which ones would you recommend if easy cleaning is a priority? Any advice on care or tips on cleaning products that work well or should be avoided would also be very helpful. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hello altanla and everyone else here,
I would like to add that with high-gloss surfaces, not only is cleaning important, but also regular maintenance to preserve the beautiful finish. A microfiber cloth, as Nils58 already mentioned, is ideal, along with a mild dish detergent or a special furniture cleaner.

Maybe a smooth, non-textured surface would be better for you to make cleaning really quick and easy.

I completely agree with that.
You should also avoid direct sunlight, as some coatings may fade over time.
I have also noticed that traces of grease stains often remain on textured wood finishes despite wiping; in that case, only patience or careful polishing helps. All in all, for the easiest cleaning, I tend to prefer high-gloss or smooth laminate doors.

I think it’s great how many helpful pieces of information have already been shared here. For me personally, easy maintenance was very important because I often have little time for housework.
I have the matte white doors and can say that, in my opinion, they are a good compromise: they don’t show every fingerprint immediately but are still relatively easy to keep clean.

They are a bit more forgiving when it comes to dust and fingerprints, you don’t see everything right away, but unfortunately, small dirt particles sometimes gather in the fine texture.

That describes it well! Sometimes I just wipe over them with a slightly damp cloth – that’s usually enough. For heavier dirt, a mild cleaner helps.
I would avoid wood grain finishes because they require more effort to clean – I prefer to save that time! Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences here, it’s really helpful.
