Pearouble24 Jan 2017 12:36Hello everyone,
my husband’s birthday is in exactly 2 weeks, and I need a gift for him. He has been very interested in DIY and crafts for 2 years now and has already started several different projects. However, he doesn’t have a miter saw for his work.
That’s why I want to make him happy by giving him a miter saw for his birthday. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about this area and wanted to ask which miter saw you would recommend?
Looking forward to your answers.
Best regards, Pearouble

First, do you want just a miter saw, or maybe a compound miter saw?
Next week Lidl will have one for 50€ (about $55). I would advise against it without seeing it first. For that low price, I just don’t believe you can get a decent one. I think you should plan to spend around 150€ (about $165). I wouldn’t buy anything below Bosch green level. I’ve had a Hitachi since last year and am very satisfied with it.
Just check the 1-2 star reviews on Amazon to see why people are unhappy. Or give your husband a gift card so he can choose one for himself.

IKEA-Experte24 Jan 2017 14:03It also depends on what you intend to do with it. When cutting thicker beams, the cutting depth should not be too shallow. Miter cuts will be made occasionally. A sliding function is important for wider workpieces.
You can’t go wrong with Bosch, Metabo, Hitachi, or Festool. I would advise against store-brand tools from hardware stores.

Dephateras25 Jan 2017 11:28Hello,
it really depends on what you want to use it for. It’s best to get one from Bosch, as you won’t go wrong with that. To help you make the right decision, this guide might be useful: . The site offers comparison tests of miter saws that deliver top performance. Alternatively, you could buy a gift voucher and let him decide for himself.
Good luck
