Hello everyone! I recently started assembling an IKEA Metod kitchen cabinet set and noticed that some assembly steps vary greatly in difficulty. Therefore, I’m curious: which assembly steps in the IKEA Metod system do you find the most challenging? I’m especially interested in whether certain tasks consistently cause problems, possibly related to lack of experience or specific tools. Please provide detailed answers— which manufacturer instructions are not very helpful, and at which steps should one be particularly careful? I’m looking forward to exchanging experiences!

Assembling it is really fun! But when installing the countertop, I had to be very careful – does anyone have tips on the best way to do it without scratches? I was quite stressed because the countertop is so expensive!

I know that feeling well. For me, the hardest part was aligning everything perfectly and securing it tightly, without the countertop wobbling or having gaps. It helps a lot to have enough helpers to hold the countertop and adjust it at the same time.

Here is a brief guide with tips for the most challenging steps when assembling IKEA Metod:

1. Preparation and inspection: Before starting assembly, be sure to unpack all parts and check that nothing is missing.
2. Aligning the carcasses: Use a spirit level and, if necessary, wedges, since uneven walls can make installation much more difficult.
3. Installing fittings: Small screws, such as those for hinges or drawer slides, should be screwed in carefully to avoid damaging the material.
4. Installing the countertop: It is best to work with assistance, as the panels are heavy and delicate.

Common mistakes usually result from working too quickly or taking inaccurate measurements.

I would also recommend never fully tightening screws before all metal sheets and wooden components are properly aligned. This will save you from having to make adjustments later.
