Hello everyone,

I am currently planning my new kitchen and have chosen the Ikea Metod system. Since storage space is very important to me, I would like to know: Which additional Metod accessories do you use to optimally increase storage capacity? I am looking for components that integrate well into the existing cabinets and provide practical storage for both smaller kitchen utensils and larger items. It is especially important to me that the parts are sturdy and can be flexibly adapted to different needs.

It would be helpful if you could share information about installation, possible combinations, and practical examples of use. I would appreciate personal experiences, especially if you have already discovered which accessories are really worth it in terms of storage space. Thank you in advance!

Hello Fra57,

First of all, I think it’s great that you’re putting so much thought into the planning! Ikea Metod offers several clever accessories that I personally like to use to maximize storage space:

- Internal drawers: They turn the lower section of a tall cabinet into easily accessible storage areas. Especially base cabinets with internal drawers are invaluable because they make much better use of the space at the back.
- Drawer inserts and cutlery trays: Perfect for keeping drawers organized, especially for cutlery and small kitchen utensils.
- Corner pull-outs or Magic Corners: If you have corner cabinets, these accessories provide an excellent way to make practical use of the otherwise hard-to-reach corners.
- Multi-level shelves: Some Metod cabinets can be extended with additional shelves to better utilize the height.

Installation is relatively simple if you follow the instructions. The most important thing is to take precise measurements so everything fits neatly. If you have any questions about assembly, I’m happy to help.

Maybe you could share the dimensions of your cabinets? Then I can give more targeted advice on the right parts.

Hello Fra57,

I want to take a deeper look into this topic since I have quite some experience with Ikea Metod accessories and can offer you very specific tips on how to maximize your storage space:

1. Internal drawers (drawers built inside the cabinet): These are especially useful if you want to store larger pots or baking sheets. It’s important to consider the correct cabinet depth here so that the drawers can move freely without obstruction.

2. Cabinet internal dividers: For example, shelves (slightly smaller shelf boards), which you can buy from Ikea, allow you to create multiple height levels inside the cabinet. This way, you can store dishes and containers in several layers.

3. Corner pull-outs (Magic Corner): This solution connects two cabinets in the corner with a mechanical pull-out that gives access to both areas when opened – very space-saving and practical. However, installation is a bit more complex and requires precise measurements.

4. Door-mounted pockets/magnetic boxes: These are perfect for storing small bottles or spices since they take up very little space.

When planning, you should measure carefully to tailor the storage space ideally to your needs. It’s best to make a list of the items you want to store and arrange them by size and frequency of use. That way, you can select the Metod accessories purposefully and avoid wrong purchases.

I’m also curious about how much total space you have available and whether you want to focus more on tall cabinets or base cabinets – this makes a big difference in choosing the right accessories.

Hello,

for more storage space in Ikea Metod kitchens, I can recommend:

- internal drawers (for pots and pans)
- drawer organizers for tidiness
- additional shelves if there is still space
- Magic Corner units for corner cabinets

These components are practical and well-proven.

Good question, Palenar! Fra57, if you like, feel free to provide more details on this. That could lead to more precise advice here.

I would also like to add that with some Metod units, you can replace the doors with shelves that have racks on the inside of the door, for example using the Uppleva system, which creates storage for small items and spices without taking up much depth.

And one more tip for installation: make sure to carefully install the drawer slides and pull-out mechanisms, as stability and smooth operation are crucial for everyday usability.

If any questions come up during assembly, don’t hesitate to ask – that will definitely make the difference between a practical solution and frustration later on.
