Hello everyone,

I am planning to furnish my bedroom with the Ikea Pax system and am looking for furniture that complements this system well, both in terms of style and functionality. I would like to know which Ikea furniture pieces work particularly well with Pax, whether regarding color schemes, materials, or modularity. Are there any recommended combinations, for example with dressers, bedside tables, or shelving units, that integrate optimally with Pax? It would also be interesting to learn which furniture is especially practical for efficiently expanding storage space or making the room feel more inviting overall.

Looking forward to your tips and experiences!

I would recommend looking at bedside tables and dressers from the Ikea "Malm" series, as their height and style match the Pax system very well. It is important to coordinate the color, usually white or gray.

The "Kallax" shelves can also be used effectively as room dividers next to Pax, since they are modular and provide additional storage.

Hello Lepusu,

your question is really well thought out because the compatibility of furniture within the Ikea style is essential for a cohesive overall look and functional storage. The Pax system is customizable and provides a solid foundation for construction. It is important to find furniture that shares characteristics such as clean lines, neutral colors, and modular flexibility.

The following furniture collections have proven to work particularly well in practice:

- Malm series: Especially the dressers and bedside tables fit very well due to their minimalist design and similar height. The surfaces are usually matte and easy to combine.

- Hemnes series: If you prefer something more classic and timeless, Hemnes with its wood textures is a good choice. The lighter color options are recommended to avoid clashing with the often white Pax.

- Kallax shelving units: The Kallax series is ideal for creating additional storage or practical room dividers. The cube shape pairs well with the rectangular fronts of Pax.

- Alex drawer units: For the workspace or dressing room next to Pax, Alex drawers are a pragmatic solution that remains stylistically neutral.

One important tip: make sure to coordinate the handles. Ikea offers interchangeable handles, for example in metal or wood, which add more harmony to the overall look.

I would also be interested in the dimensions you have planned for your Pax. Depending on this, it’s worth choosing furniture with matching sizes or heights so that the look stays visually cohesive.

What does the room look like (e.g., dimensions, lighting conditions)? This also greatly influences the choice of materials and colors. If you like, you can share more specific details, and I’ll be happy to give you more targeted advice.

This is really a point I underestimated when I put together my Pax wardrobe system. At first, I was unsure whether to go with the standard handles or buy my own. In hindsight, I’m glad I chose handles that visually connect the furniture – it somehow makes the room feel more harmonious, almost like a design concept.

I also think you should take your time when choosing bedside tables. I chose white ‘Malm’ bedside tables, which match the white Pax combination very well visually. But at the beginning, I was worried they might be too plain; however, that turned out not to be a disadvantage.

Additionally, it’s a good idea to consider what exactly you want to store when it comes to modularity and storage space. Shoes, clothes, or decoration all have different requirements. For example, I added some open shelves to store books – that makes the room feel more lively.

So, in short: I’ve had very good experiences so far combining Malm and Kallax, especially in terms of value for money, and the furniture was also easy to assemble and compatible with Pax. The only difficult part for me was choosing the right color, since you want the colors to last well over the years and avoid having to replace pieces frequently.
